Letting go of 20 something

It doesn't seem that long ago I was the youngest person in the room.  People would ask my age and say, "Oh, still a baby".  At the time, it rather offended me.   When you begin to get a little age on yourself you realize being called young isn't so bad.  Especially when you are in your late 30's and a teenage cashier calls you ma'am and asks if you would like the senior discount.  Talk about offended.  Before too long you realize nearly 20 years has passed since you started your career.  Then your 30 year high school class reunion comes around.  Next you are knocking on the door of the big 5-0. Morning Sunrise in Florida That is where I am now.  Almost 50.  OK it's 22 months away, but it is still close.  As I was working through the hair thing, the make-up thing, the extra weight thing, the gym thing and the food thing it suddenly occurred to me I had it all wrong.  All my effort was focused on bringing back 20 somethin...

Growing out grey

Roots and all! It is important you get to know the person who is writing the blogs you read. Generally, there will be a "bio" or "about me" section included with most sites. This information can be rather basic and there is nothing wrong with that, but I want you to know me. The good, the bad and the ugly as they say. It occurred to me I didn't need the Purpose Study to be 30 consecutive days. So, I am going to begin sharing more about who I am and what happens in my life. This will give you a better picture of the person I am. If you want me to share something specific then please comment after this post or send an email. I will do my best to answer those requests. Today's topic is grey hair. You may be thinking something like "really grey hair?", but I assure you it does have value. Let me explain.....  On 10/8/17, just one week ago, I committed on Facebook to stop coloring my hair and seriously reduce my use of make-up. This included a ...

Our Purpose - Purpose Study - No. 1

Do you wonder what your purpose in life really is?  What you are really here for?  I do.  Yes, I am purposed to be a wife, a daughter, a nurse, a friend and many other things.  But, what is God's purpose for me.  Walking with Him these past 16 years has been quite a journey and yet I still don't feel like I know EXACTLY what it is.  So with that in mind, I decided to do some reading.   I did a general on-line search on which verses had the word purpose in them. I also browsed other sites for lists on bible verses with purpose. There are, in fact, many verses on purpose in the bible. My plan is to go through a verse each day and learn more about what the bible has to say on this topic.  It may or may not "reveal" what He wants me to focus on, but it certainly cannot hurt to know His word more thoroughly.  Perhaps you would like to join me? If you look to the right you will see I have posted "Today's verse" with a li...

Re-design, Re-fresh, Re-dedicate

It's time for a change. That is what my best friend and I decided a few short weeks ago. We embarked on a 30 day journey to "minimalize" many aspects of our lives. Most people hear minimal and think they have to get rid of all their possessions, paint everything white or move into a tiny house. Minimalism is more than just the quantity of "stuff" you possess. It is much more. It is..... How many items are on your calendar each week? How much time is spent on a gadget (phone, tablet, game box, or computer)? How many clothes/shoes/purses do you own? How much time does it take to do your hair and make-up each day? How much do you have to work to maintain your current lifestyle? It is also... How much or little time do you spend with your spouse, your children, or the important people in your life? How much time is spent in your spiritual walk? Do you have any hobbies? How exhausted are you? Do you see where I am going with this? Minimalism is a lifestyle: a...
