The Stats and the devil!

Today has been two weeks since I started "Who Do You Turn To?".  I have had some good response from friends and family.  Mom told me yesterday she reads it every morning.  Then she said with some interest, "You know since I have been reading your blog, I have learned some things about my daughter!".  She went on to say she knew a lot of the things I was talking about, but reading about them gave her an understanding.  Don't you love how you can count on mom to be your best supporter!

This blog has several purposes.  The first is to journal our first time experience as a Senior Pastor and wife.  The second is to reach you with a touch of Christ.  The third is share with women daily things that make women happy, sad, frustrated and whatever other emotion comes along in a given 24 hour period.  It is important to me that it says something to you when you read it.  I don't want it to be just another blog about someone's life and that someone doesn't really have much to say.  For my friends in Amherst it is a way to keep up with what is happening in our lives once we leave.  However, you can do that on Facebook.

I have done some looking around the web and there are a lot of blogs.  One that I read faithfully for a time was Living Proof Ministries by Beth Moore.  To me, she definitely has something important to say on a regular basis.  There is Proverbs 31 ministries which had several blogs in place.  While looking you know what happened?  I started to worry about how obscure and little and inconsequential my blog was in comparison.  You know what that means?  The devil was trying to make me quit!  When you do something for Christ, anything, the devil doesn't like it.  He looks for ways to tear you down and make you stop.  The bible tells us  in 1 Peter that the devil is our adversary and  that he prowls around like a roaring lion seeking those whom he may destroy.

Talking to my dad yesterday, he asked if it was hard to keep it up on a daily basis; to continue to find something to write about.  I confidently answered "No" and told him when I thought of something I wanted to say I would go ahead and write about it and store it as a draft.  That way, I was not rushing each day to try to get something posted.  So guess what happened?  Last night, I am lying there at 11pm and haven't written the first word nor figured out what to write about.  I went to bed with nothing waiting in the wings to publish this morning.  You know who that was?  You got it, the devil again!

When I sat down to write it was going to be purely on the last two weeks in review.  But as the words filled the page another theme emerged.  Whether you are Christian or not it is important you know who Satan is and what he deems his mission.  He was an angel in heaven until he found himself so full of self love that he thought himself better than God.  That was to his demise as God cast him from his lofty place and sent 1/3 of the angels packing with him.  The Lord gave him dominion over the earth.  He has the power to deceive us and that is what he does.  He cannot be in two places at once, as can the Lord!  He cannot be all powerful, as can the Lord!.  He also cannot be all knowing, as can the Lord!  But what he can do is confuse us, distract us, and detain us from our true path.  That is his mission - to keep us from fellowship with the Lord.  Do not let him have this power over your life.

So, I decided after seeing all those other blogs that I would just keeping putting it out there.  I do have something to say.  I seem to say it well in typed form (not so true always in verbal form). I wanted to tell people how Jesus can be a part of their everyday and I am by no means a door to door evangelist.  Blogger has the ability to tell you how many people are looking at your pages and even what countries they are looking from.  I know someone is looking from Nicaragua - thanks Maggie and one from Malta - thanks Julie!  I know many who are looking from the US - thanks ALL of you.  I know who has subscribed to receive via email daily - thanks Steve, Susan, Brenda and Irene.  I know that there is someone looking from Russia and from Germany.  I want to say thanks to you even though I don't know who you are.

That is the thing - I WANT to know who you are.  I want you to comment at the end of the blog.  Comment if you like it, comment if you don't, comment if you have had the same experience, even comment if you think I need to do something differently - just comment!  Tell me if you want me to write about something.  Ask me questions about Christ and how he can be part of your day.  I don't have all the answers, but I do have a few good sources!  Subscribe by email at the bottom of the page.  Let me know about your life.

And the stats are......In the past two weeks, 14 postings, I have had 746 pageviews from 6 countries.  That, of course, doesn't include my own pageviews!  There is even a map that shows countries in green when someone has looked at your blog.  I look everyday to see if another one has turned green.  If you are taking the time to read, then take the time to tell me who you are.  If you don't want your comments posted for everyone, my email is under "my profile".

Above all, remember, each of you also have something to say.  You are important, you have meaning in this world and there is always one person who cares about every moment of your life.  That person is Christ!

In His service
Mally

It was a Monday

Well, yesterday was my first missed day posting to the blog.  It was truly a Monday.  We moved from my parents house into our "lakefront" property at Lake Yale Conference Center.  For those of you with no idea where Lake Yale is, I have posted a link.   http://www.lybcc.com/   A 27ft camper is now home and we feel really blessed to have been given this place to stay.  It was definitely a challenge to fit everything inside.  I guess I should clarify, we did not bring everything.  We downsized a bit on the clothes, doubled up on each hanger, left a few of Steve's books behind and the harp is staying at Mom's for now.  It took two trips to get everything here.  Just as I pulled in, my parents pulled in behind me.  They had been to a doctor's appointment and stopped by to see the new digs.  My mom marched right up to the sink and began washing dishes for me.  I unloaded my car and attempted to figure out where to put ev...

No more memories

It has been a long 16 months since my last blog post.  Too much has happened...too much. The most significant event was the passing of my mother last September.  It was truly a heart wrenching experience.  Many of you who know me know that my relationship with my mother was difficult.  We loved each other very much, but we had a difficult time spending long periods of time together.  We were both strong willed, independent and opinionated.  She wanted her way and I wanted mine.  Ultimately this caused way too many disagreements and misunderstandings.  These times of turmoil I now realize were a total waste of time for us both.   In those last days, sitting in her hospital room, it became all too apparent we had spend far too many times being frustrated with each other, arguing or not speaking.  When they told us we would have 2 to 12 months on hospice, I resolved myself to make it the best time we had ever had....

Time stolen

Time is quickly stolen away as I realize it has been ten days since I last put my thoughts into a posting.  My weekdays are consumed with work and I am so mentally exhausted at the end of the 10-12 hours, I cannot think of anything except doing nothing.  The weekends are a dash of running errands, church activities and trying to cram time in with family and friends.  When I woke this morning, I could not believe Saturday and Sunday had already come to a close.  This morning actually consisted of my husband waking me at eight minutes after seven.  For a point of reference, I usually leave the house at 7:05 am each day.  That should give you a quick understanding of how my Monday started with a bang.  Before I could get to the car, one of my employees was calling to tell me she would be out sick today.  I tried to force my brain into action as I reviewed what else was going on today.  It had already escaped my memory that I had one employee c...
